# UI Control
- Gather evidence from the actual UI surface using repository-native tooling when available.
+ Gather reproducible evidence from the actual graphical surface without changing production behavior.
## Workflow
- 1. Identify the UI surface and observable behavior under test.
- 2. Start the application with its documented local command.
- 3. Prefer existing Playwright, Cypress, Storybook, browser, desktop, or Electron harnesses.
- 4. Locate pages and controls by stable roles, labels, test identifiers, or application markers.
- 5. Capture before-and-after evidence only when it proves the changed behavior.
- 6. Inspect console, network, traces, screenshots, or accessibility output only as needed.
- 7. Check relevant loading, empty, error, keyboard, focus, responsive, and cleanup behavior.
- 8. Clean up servers, debug sessions, temporary profiles, and artifacts unless the user asks to keep them.
+ 1. Identify the target surface, build or session, and observable contract.
+ 2. Reuse the authorized running or authenticated surface when it is the target. Start a local app only when necessary and authorized.
+ 3. Prefer existing repository harnesses and locate controls by stable roles, labels, identifiers, or application markers.
+ 4. Perform only actions needed for the requested behavior or a concrete risk.
+ 5. Capture the smallest relevant screenshot, accessibility output, console entry, network evidence, or trace.
+ 6. Check loading, empty, error, keyboard, focus, responsive, and cleanup states only when material to the contract.
+ 7. Clean up only servers, profiles, sessions, and artifacts created by this workflow.
- ## Guardrails
+ Keep verification read-only unless the parent task separately authorizes implementation. Use `behavior-implement` for fixes, `phase-validate` for contract acceptance, and `test-gap-review` for evidence sufficiency.
- - Do not add browser automation dependencies merely for a one-off probe.
- - Do not reuse stale selectors or coordinates after navigation or layout changes.
- - Avoid coordinate clicks unless a fresh screenshot immediately establishes the target.
- - Do not retain sensitive screenshots, traces, HTTP bodies, profiles, or memory dumps without a concrete need.
- - Do not hardcode ports, selectors, or scripts copied from another repository.
+ Do not add automation dependencies for a one-off probe, retain sensitive evidence, use stale selectors, or terminate user-owned resources.
- Finish when UI behavior is verified with direct evidence, fixed within scope, or blocked for a concrete reason.
+ Finish with the surface tested, actions, observed result, retained evidence, and blockers or limitations.
