# VST BDD Test Suite Rules

## Core Principles
- All test parameters in `config.json` (never hardcode)
- Use detailed error reporting via `test_utils.assert_with_detailed_failure()`
- Prefix test uploads: `test_upload_*` for sensors/filenames
- Tests auto-cleanup resources via `conftest.py`

## Test Structure
- Categories: file_upload, file_download, picture, webrtc, perf
- Pattern: features/*.feature + tests/test_*.py + *_test_utils.py + conftest.py
- Use pytest-bdd: `@given`, `@when`, `@then`
- Context object stores state between BDD steps

## Configuration
- Read from `config['tests']['<category>_tests']['test_parameters']`
- Support CLI overrides (e.g., `--perf-iterations`)
- Timeouts, URLs, iterations all configurable

## Testing
- Functional tests: use `--count` for repetition
- Latency tests: use `--perf-iterations` for iterations/scenario
- Live tests: exclude `test_upload_*` sensors
- Validation tests: use `assert_with_detailed_failure()`

## Reports
- Main: `reports/report.html`, `reports/junit.xml`
- Stats: `reports/stats/` (container monitoring)
- Latency: `reports/latency/` (CSV + viewer)
- Performance: `reports/performance/`

## Code Style
- Type hints required
- Use pathlib.Path
- Async with aiohttp for parallel operations
- Docstrings for public functions
- Follow PEP8
