# AGENTS.md — Rules for coding agents working on GAIA This file establishes how coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, custom orchestrators) coordinate when contributing to GAIA. It complements `CLAUDE.md` (which covers project conventions) by adding **multi-agent coordination rules**. If you are a human contributor, you don't need to follow these rules — but you should read them to understand how parallel agent work is being managed. If you are a coding agent, **read this file before opening any PR**. --- ## Priority order User instructions override everything. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
