# StyleSeed — Design Engine A design-method engine whose goal is to make expert design judgment repeatable by coding agents, not to replace designers with aesthetic preferences. Preserve approved project choices; surface unsupported choices rather than silently replacing the project's design system. `PRODUCT-PRINCIPLES.md` defines the goal and authority boundaries. Different product jobs use different output grammars. Skins provide materials; they never define the method. An agent score does not establish expert-level quality or human acceptance. **Resolve the artifact boundary first.** If either `.styleseed/project.json` or `.styleseed/artifacts/index.json` exists, require a valid registry and use `/ss-resolve` with `--artifact <id>`. Read `.styleseed/bundles/<id>.md` and `.styleseed/manifests/<id>.json`; never fall back to a legacy lock on a registry error. Only when neither registry file exists, resolve `STYLESEED.md` into `.styleseed/effective-rules.md` plus its manifest. Build from that small bundle instead of loading the full handbook. How to install

This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
