# Genre Skill: Survival
- STATUS: draft — no variant is "mature" yet. This file is read by the
- kit whenever a project has `Claude/docs/.genre = survival`.
-
- ## How this skill gets populated
-
- This skill does NOT yet contain pre-written design patterns. Patterns
- arise ONLY from analyzing real maps of this genre, variant by
- variant. See `variants/<slug>/evidence.md` for observations collected
- map by map.
+ This file is read by the kit whenever a project has `Claude/docs/.genre = survival`.
- Rule for promoting a variant from draft to mature:
- - at least 3 distinct maps of the same variant with a populated evidence.md
- - at least 1 pattern (reproducible + causal + actionable — not
- an isolated observation) repeated in 2+ of those maps
+ ## How this skill learns (Skill Harness)
- Only once 2+ variants are mature are their patterns compared to
- see if something converges ACROSS different variants too. If it converges, it goes in
- `references/evidence-shared.md`. If it doesn't converge, `evidence-shared.md` stays
- empty — that's a legitimate outcome, not a failure: it means the Survival
- genre is genuinely heterogeneous across its variants.
+ This skill starts EMPTY on purpose and is never pre-written from general knowledge. It learns from
+ the maps the owner actually builds, one map at a time — no need to wait for 3 maps:
- ## Known variants (proposed as a prototype, to confirm/rename with real data)
+ - After a playtest (or on request) the `skill-reflector` agent QUEUES lessons. Nothing is learned
+ until the owner approves it on the **Skills** page of the Agent Console.
+ - Every pattern carries a confidence level computed from the owner's own maps:
+ **hypothesis** (1 map) → **confirmed** (2 maps) → **proven** (3+ maps, or 2 + a retention metric).
+ A map that does the opposite turns it into **contested**; nothing is silently overwritten.
+ - How to use the list below: PROVEN = follow as a rule. CONFIRMED = follow by default, say why if you
+ deviate. HYPOTHESIS = only a suggestion, tell the owner it is unproven. CONTESTED = show both options
+ and ask. If the list is empty, there is simply nothing learned yet — do not invent patterns.
+ - Private vs shareable: map names, task IDs and notes live in `local/` (never exported, never
+ committed). `pack/patterns.json` holds only generalized patterns + support counts and is the one
+ part that can be shared or merged from the community. Do not edit the block below by hand
+ (`python Claude/hooks/skills_lib.py ...` regenerates it).
- See `references/variants.md`. The 3 initial variants indicated by the creator:
+ ## Known variants (working labels; pattern `variant` field uses these slugs, or `*` for the whole genre)
- 1. **loop-100** — loop of a hundred (e.g. a structured wave/round with a
- fixed or near-fixed number of cycles)
- 2. **loop-infinito** — infinite-loop survival, with no predefined structural
- ending
- 3. **space-war-2team** — survival in a space setting, two
- opposing teams
+ See `references/variants.md`: **loop-100** (structured cycle/wave loop with a fixed count), **loop-infinito**
+ (continuous loop, no ending), **space-war-2team** (space setting, two opposing teams). These are the
+ creator's labels, not official Epic tags (see `~/.claude/skills/genre/fortnite-tags-known.json`).
- These names are the creator's working labels, not necessarily
- matching 1:1 with the official Epic tags (see
- `~/.claude/skills/genre/fortnite-tags-known.json` — closed list of ~30/40 tags, still to
- be populated with real captures). Once the real tags are known, this section
- should be aligned to use the same terminology where it matches.
## Dependencies (one-way, never the reverse)
- This skill can read/cite:
- - Device Library (second-brain) — reusable systems
- - Retention skill (`fortnite-retention-gamedesign`) — general retention hooks
+ This skill can read/cite the Device Library (second-brain) and the retention skill
+ (`fortnite-retention-gamedesign`). Those must NEVER contain logic specific to this genre.
- Device Library and Retention must NEVER contain logic specific to the
- Survival genre. The dependency only ever goes in this direction.
+ <!-- PATTERNS:BEGIN -->
+ ## Learned patterns (generated — do not edit by hand)
- ## evidence-shared.md
+ These come from maps the owner actually built and approved. Patterns the owner has not approved are not listed. Match the confidence to how you use each one.
- Empty for now (no variant mature yet). See
- `references/evidence-shared.md`.
+ _Nothing learned yet. Patterns appear here only after the owner approves a lesson from a real map._
