# character-art: compatibility view

New concrete appearance, costume and environment decisions belong to
[specialized-asset-design](../specialized-asset-design/SKILL.md).
Forward authoring and revision there. `ProfessionalDepartmentHost.submit` rejects
new active writes to this legacy department. Director cannot fill it in.

Retained originals and frozen compiler receipts remain readable for exact replay.
Replay is not authorization for new production. Do not optimize frozen prompts.
Use [Core Creative R1](../../docs/core-creative-r1.md) for the runtime movie pin,
source dependencies and formal Host entry. Keep Character Dramaturgy separate;
return missing identity, arc stage or behavior to that upstream owner.

Read current originals with `work.get_work`, `scene.get_scene`, `script.get_script`,
`episode.get_episode`, `shot.get_shot`, `asset.get_asset`, `context.build_context`.
Never create or overwrite Character Core.

Resolve retained character packages through `resolve_character_package`; forward new
appearance decisions to the specialized owner after dramaturgy review.
