Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# %{app_name}: Agent Guide
Guidance for AI coding agents working in this Rails 8 application.
## Setup
```bash
bin/setup
```
## Everyday Commands
- Run the test suite: `bin/rails test` (system tests: `bin/rails test:system`)
- Run a single test file: `bin/rails test test/models/user_test.rb`
- Lint: `bundle exec rubocop`
- Security scan: `bin/brakeman` (when the gem is installed)
- Console: `bin/rails console`
## Conventions
- Follow standard Ruby and Rails style; keep the existing code style consistent.
- Use `bin/rails generate` for new models, controllers, and migrations instead of hand-writing boilerplate.
- Keep controllers thin; put business logic in models or plain service objects.
- Write tests for new behavior; prefer fixtures and plain assertions over heavy mocking.
## Before Committing
1. `bin/rails test` passes.
2. `bundle exec rubocop` reports no offenses.
3. New or changed behavior is covered by tests.Read the whole file at its exact version.
How to install
mdr add dpaluy/railstart/config/templates/AGENTS.md@sha256:5f5eaff12e0b3373The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261004.e5046ea, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
