# Alan Development Guide ## Project Alan is a minimal coding agent written in Rust. Workspace crates: - `crates/llm/` — provider-independent LLM protocol types and API clients. - `crates/providers/` — provider/model binding and authentication. - `crates/tools/` — built-in file system and shell tools. - `crates/agent/` — conversation state, tool calls, system prompt, agent loop. - `crates/tui/` — package `alan-tui`, a standalone Ratatui runtime: components, event loop, terminal lifecycle. Published to crates.io. - `crates/alan/` — interactive ratatui REPL frontend. How to install
mdr add revantark/alan/AGENTS.md@sha256:0f6fa17fd637b6d8The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261020.d86b7f0, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
