# pyobfus — Cursor rules (legacy .cursorrules format)

pyobfus (the Python obfuscator) is available in this project. Use it when
the user asks to obfuscate, protect source before shipping, or build a
commercial/evaluation distribution.

Standard workflow:
  1. pyobfus --check <path> --json            # pre-flight risk scan
  2. pyobfus --init <path> --json             # generate pyobfus.yaml
  3. pyobfus <path> -o dist/ -c pyobfus.yaml --save-mapping mapping.json --json
  4. pyobfus --unmap --trace error.log --mapping mapping.json --json

All four modes emit a JSON schema with an `ai_hint` field containing the
next command to run.

Framework presets (free): fastapi, django, flask, pydantic, click, sqlalchemy.
Prefer these when the project imports the matching framework.

Do NOT obfuscate test code, scratch scripts, or files the user is actively
editing. Do NOT lose `mapping.json` — it's required to debug production traces.
