# devcoach

> devcoach is a free, local, open-source MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that turns the tasks your AI agent finishes into short, in-context lessons on what you don't know yet — progressive technical coaching for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Gemini CLI, Codex CLI, Cursor, and other MCP-compatible tools. Everything stays on your machine in a single SQLite file: no accounts, no telemetry, no calls home.

devcoach decides whether to deliver a lesson after each completed task, based on your knowledge map, a rate limit (default 2/day, 4h gap), a pacing counter (default: one cue every 10 interactions per chat session), and what it has already taught — so it teaches a little, continuously, and stays out of the way. It keeps developers sharp enough to validate what AI produces, precisely as that skill becomes harder to maintain.
