# Jargon

Restate your previous message. Keep every claim it made. Restate the current turn only, and write later messages in your normal register.

## Language

- Replace each specialized term with what the thing does. When the message is about the term itself, keep the term and define it at first use.
- Expand every acronym at first use.
- Replace metaphor and analogy with the mechanism they stand for.
- Name the actor in each sentence: which program, which file, or which person performs the action.
- One idea per sentence, in the active voice and the present tense.
- Keep filenames, commands, numbers, and error text exactly as written.

## Context

Open with what the message was responding to and what changed, then restate the claims. A message fails on its missing setup as often as on its words.

Use the terms this conversation and this repository already use. A new name for something already named forces the reader to map it back before they can follow the claim.
