This file provides guidance to Claude Code (claude.ai/code) when working with code in this repository.

## Commands

`tests/conftest.py` points `HOME` at a throwaway dir before anything imports `jarvis`, so a test run (even `!pytest` inside Jarvis) never touches the real `~/.config/harness-agent` — it used to rewrite `settings.json` / `provider` / `auth_mode`. Tests that only *read* local data use `JARVIS_REAL_HOME`; `JARVIS_TESTS_REAL_HOME=1` opts out.

`pip install -r requirements.txt` installs libraries only (no `jarvis` entry point). Prefer `pip install -e .` for local development. See `requirements.txt` header for the full verified sequence.

How to install

The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261022.ce6f0d9, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
