# Varin contributor guide Start with [docs/architecture.md](docs/architecture.md), [docs/development.md](docs/development.md) and the nearest module README/DOCUMENTATION. Code, types, schemas, tests and package scripts define executable behavior; docs explain responsibility and intent. Git retains historical designs and delivery records. Correct stale prose rather than appending another contradictory update. Keep long-lived docs focused on the current system, its constraints and non-obvious rationale. Active designs and plans may remain while work is underway; distinguish proposals from implemented behavior. When they have served their purpose, fold useful rationale into current docs and remove the process documents. Git preserves their history. ## Product and ownership - Varin is an independent workspace and harness originating from the maintainer's OpenChamber fork. All changes happen in this repository; external OpenChamber checkouts remain read-only. - The Rust Agent runtime is the conversation execution owner, using native Thread/branch identities and Catalog. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved.
