# MemWal > MemWal is a privacy-first AI memory layer. It stores encrypted memories on Walrus (decentralized storage) and retrieves them with semantic search. Ownership is enforced onchain via Sui smart contracts. The TypeScript SDK (`@mysten-incubation/memwal`) gives any app persistent, encrypted memory in a few lines of code.
