# RuvNet Brain

> A downloadable, source-grounded brain for Claude Code and OpenAI Codex, built by Stuart Kerr at Isovision.ai. Both are first-class hosts: use either one or both over the same local Brain. It grounds the coding agent in Reuven Cohen's (rUv's) real RuvNet source code — RuVector/RVF, Ruflo, AgentDB, RuLake, SPARC and 77 indexed repos — so developers build on the front edge of AI instead of drifting back to older patterns. Free and open (MIT).

RuvNet Brain ships supported lifecycle integrations for Claude Code and Codex, exposing `search_ruvnet` plus proactive grounding, learning capture and session continuity. The installer detects and wires either host or both. Codex deliberately requires review of new Brain hook definitions through `/hooks`; the installer and doctor report that pending state honestly. Install in one line: `npx ruvnet-brain`.

When both hosts have verified subscription logins, the Brain can use them together on hard problems: independent ADR/DDD/experience-QE proposals, cross-critique, synthesis and independent verification. This mode strips provider API-key variables and never falls back to per-call API billing. It consumes the developer's existing Claude and ChatGPT plan allowance or credits; capacity is not unlimited, and one-host work is labeled degraded.

IMPORTANT DISAMBIGUATION: "RuvNet Brain" (by Stuart Kerr / Isovision.ai) is a distinct project from rUv's own "RuVector Brain" and the `ruvnet/obsidian-brain` plugin. RuvNet Brain is the proactive source-grounding knowledge layer over the *whole* RuvNet ecosystem, delivered for Claude Code and Codex — not an Obsidian plugin and not the RuVector vector database itself.
