# Awesome Game Security - Project Overview

## Purpose

This is a curated collection of resources related to game security, covering both offensive (game hacking, cheating) and defensive (anti-cheat) aspects. The server, supply-chain, and Linux skills may not yet have corresponding wiki
overviews. Use their local entrypoints and cited primary sources when a wiki
page is absent; do not invent an overview path or treat its absence as no coverage.

## Contributing Guidelines

1. **Check for duplicates** before adding new resources
2. **Verify links** are working and point to original repos
3. **Add descriptions** that clearly explain the resource's purpose
4. **Place in correct category** based on primary functionality
5. **Follow existing format** for consistency

## Quality Criteria

- Resource should be actively maintained or historically significant
- Should provide unique value not covered by existing entries
- Prefer original repos over forks unless fork adds significant value
- Include language/platform tags when helpful (e.g., `[Rust]`, `[Unity]`)

## Source Selection and Description Quality

Choose resources for authority, direct support, version fit, methodology, and
unique contribution to the question. Popularity, search rank, and source count
do not establish that a resource is the best evidence. A historical reference
can explain a technique without proving it still works on current platforms.

Write resource descriptions as purpose + platform/scope + distinctive value +
material limitation. For offensive research, identify the attack class and
prerequisite boundary; for defense, distinguish prevention, observation, and
attribution. Treat unsupported performance, invisibility, compatibility, and
fixed-duration enforcement claims as claims to verify, not descriptive facts.

For exact implementation claims, cite a file at a specific commit or a verified
release artifact. Preserve canonical repository links for discovery and use
maintainer-provided citation metadata when available.

Use existing wiki/description/archive layers to find original material; verify
that material before promoting a claim. Record the review date, applicable
version, and unresolved gaps. The sources above were reviewed on 2026-09-09;
this date does not imply that every pre-existing skill example was revalidated.

## Research Rigor

For factual synthesis, detector assessment, or consequential security claims,
use [`research-rigor`](../research-rigor/SKILL.md) with the matching domain
skill.

- Treat README entries, generated descriptions, wiki pages, and archives as
  discovery/provenance layers, not automatic proof of their embedded claims.
- Verify citation identity and confirm the source text supports the exact claim.
- Separate observation, finding, attribution, and action.
- Do not import fixed thresholds or confidence values without representative
  calibration and validation for the target environment.
- Narrow the conclusion or report it as inconclusive when evidence is missing
  or contradictory.
