# CLAUDE.md macOS dev environment automation: dotfiles, AI agent configs, skills, and dev stacks. ## Commands Run `make help` to list targets and `hal --help` for the CLI. Use `make` targets instead of running the underlying commands directly. They chain the right tools with the right flags. ## Gotchas - **Edit under `dotfiles/`, never under `~/`**: `hal sync` symlinks every `links` entry in `dotfiles/hal_dotfiles.json` into `~/`, so an edit to a linked path is live immediately. A new file outside a linked directory needs its own entry plus `hal sync` before anything references it. - **Mirror `dotfiles/.claude/settings.json` edits into `dotfiles/.claude/settings.sandbox.json`**: the sandbox copy is the settings for Claude Code under blackwall and drifts otherwise. Skip what it leaves out on purpose: hooks, the `ask` list, host-path `deny` rules, Ollama-backed plugins and env vars, and its own theme and statusline paths. …

How to install

This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
