Recreate a reference video as an HTML page, a video-from-code workflow. Match a reference film with a vawe page: bin/vawe see --spec writes SPEC.md frame by frame, every line is marked KEEP or CHANGE, the page is rebuilt light first, then bin/vawe critique --ref loops until the match passes. Load when a reference mp4 must be matched, not merely echoed.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

Run this skill inside a vawe checkout: `AGENTS.md`, `taste/` and `bin/vawe` live there. With no checkout, get one: `git clone https://github.com/vawe-hq/vawe.git && cd vawe && npm install && bin/vawe-dev doctor`.
Use when a reference film exists and the deliverable must match its light, pacing, type and curves.
Not for "inspired by"; that is a director's brief (`prompts/directors-brief-long-form.md`).
References are in-house and never published. Length is the reference's length, never longer.

How to install
mdr add vawe-hq/vawe/vawe-reference@sha256:50179aa727b40878The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261102.f4cb385, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
