An agent skill is a folder with a SKILL.md file in it. The Agent Skills format asks that file to open with a name and a description in YAML frontmatter, followed by instructions; an agent keeps only the description in mind and reads the rest when a task calls for it, so one agent can carry many skills without filling its context.
