Use when creating, assigning, or checking custom permissions to control feature access beyond CRUD and FLS. Trigger keywords: 'custom permission', 'FeatureManagement.checkPermission', '$Permission global variable', 'feature gate', 'named access grant', 'beta feature flag', 'SetupEntityAccess', 'requiredPermission', 'who has this custom permission'. NOT for gating Apex service code and its tests — use apex/apex-custom-permissions-check. NOT for permission set design — use…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Custom Permissions Use this skill when a feature or capability needs a named access gate that goes beyond object, field, or record permissions. Custom permissions grant boolean access to a named capability and can be checked in validation rules, formula fields, Apex, Flow, LWC, Visualforce, and Lightning page component visibility. Each of those contexts spells the check differently. --- ## Before Starting - Confirm you need a custom permission, not a permission set feature license or a record-level sharing rule. Custom permissions are for feature on/off gates, not record visibility. - Identify all platform contexts that must check the permission (validation rule, formula, Apex, Flow). Each uses a different syntax. - Gather the exact API name you want. `DeveloperName` must begin with a letter, contain only alphanumerics and underscores, not include spaces, **not end with an underscore, and not contain two consecutive underscores**; limit 80 characters (Object Reference, `CustomPermission.DeveloperName`). The name cannot be changed after creation without updating every reference. …

How to install
mdr add pranavnagrecha/awesomesalesforceskills/custom-permissions@sha256:a5d18eb8440c498aThe line at the top of this page pins the label v1.2.2, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
