Reads Copilot conversation history and extracts executive-ready success stories. Use when the user asks to study prior Copilot sessions, summarize what was done before, mine evidence, or quantify time, cost, risk, and priority alignment from GitHub Copilot history in any workspace or repository.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Copilot history briefing Use this skill to turn Copilot conversation history into evidence-backed briefing material. ## Dependencies and setup - Query the Copilot session store tables directly with SQL: `sessions`, `turns`, `checkpoints`, `session_files`, and `session_refs`. - Use `search_index` only when it exists and you need faster keyword discovery. - The local store is the SQLite database at `~/.copilot/session-store.db` on the current machine; per-session state files live under `~/.copilot/session-state/<session-id>/session.db`. - Use local for this machine's SQLite history at `~/.copilot/session-store.db`; use cloud only for populated shared history through the agent runtime's cloud-backed path. ## Process 1. Start with a small test search. - Search the most recent and most relevant sessions first. - Use narrow filters by date, summary, repo, branch, session id, or request keywords. - Widen the search only if the first pass misses likely sessions. 2. Build the session set. - Identify the sessions that actually support the request. - For each candidate, capture the session id, summary, date, and the turns or checkpoints that matter. …

How to install
mdr add andrewbrown-usda/aigb-skills-usda/copilot-history-briefing@sha256:c0dc643175f03f90The line at the top of this page pins the label v1.3, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
