Procedure for proving that a claimed defect fix actually reached the build under test and actually works. Covers the merge-base ancestry check that proves the running build contains the fix commit rather than trusting a version label, the priority order for choosing which reproduction to re-run, and the VERIFIED / NOT FIXED / BLOCKED verdict table whose governing rule is that any ambiguous, flaky, or unreproducible result resolves to BLOCKED and is never guessed. Scoped to ISTQB confirmation…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# confirmation-testing-workflow The evidence procedure that justifies moving a defect out of **Fixed**: prove the build under test contains the fix, re-run the reproduction that failed before the fix, and classify the result. ## What this owns, and what it does not The axis is **verification procedure vs lifecycle vocabulary**: a lifecycle catalog owns the state names and legal transitions; this procedure owns the evidence that justifies picking one. It answers "may I claim Verified?", not "what states exist?". Out of scope: triage of the original defect (decided before a fix), severity and priority (separate axes, unchanged here), and the broader regression suite (a different activity - see below). ## Confirmation testing is not regression testing Both are change-related testing; conflating them is a common error. | | Question answered | ISTQB scope | |---|---|---| | **Confirmation testing** | Does *this* fix work? | after fixing a defect, confirm the failure it caused no longer reoccurs ([glossary.istqb.org/en_US/term/confirmation-testing](https://glossary.istqb.org/en_US/term/confirmation-testing)) | …

How to install
mdr add testland/qa/confirmation-testing-workflow@sha256:c6729971fb255244The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260728.1bce424, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
