Runs a safe, resumable refinement loop over a working repository. It discovers behavior-preserving improvements through four evidence-based lenses, ranks them by ROI, applies one small change at a time, verifies independently, and stops deterministically at diminishing returns or a safety limit. Use when explicitly asked to run refine-loop on an existing project.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. # refine-loop Refine a working repository through small changes that preserve observable behavior. The loop is not a feature, bug-fix, security-remediation, migration, or rewrite workflow. Apply [the shared loop contract](references/loop-contract.md) to every operation. ## Contract - Execute only behavior-preserving refinements. - Discover broadly, execute serially, and accept at most one candidate per round. - Keep durable state outside project documentation by default. - Preserve all pre-existing user work. - Verify each accepted change with repository checks and a fresh reviewer. - Stop with exactly one outcome: `SUCCESS`, `BUDGET`, `ERROR`, `NEEDS-FIX`, or `CANCELLED`. Defaults: - `theta=2.0` - `plateau_limit=3` - `max_rounds=25` - `failure_limit=3` - `state_dir=.refine-loop/` ## Parse the request Parse only consecutive leading configuration tokens, in any order: `--continue`, `--target=PATH`, `--state-dir=PATH`, `theta=N`, and `focus=LENS,...`. Stop at the first other token; all remaining text is the refinement intent. Option-looking text after intent begins is intent text, not configuration. …

How to install

This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
