Start a Tailr session against the running dev server and begin watching for the reviewer's first batch of visual markup. Invoke with /tailr:start.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Start a Tailr review session
The user invoked this with: $ARGUMENTS
Carry this out now. Do not summarize it back or ask whether to proceed.
## 1. Find the dev server
If `$ARGUMENTS` names a URL, use it. Otherwise work out where this project's dev
server runs — check `package.json` scripts, the framework's default port, or
whatever is already listening — and start it if it is not up. Ask only if you
genuinely cannot determine it.
## 2. Start Tailr against it
Use Tailr's own detach — do **not** background the command with `&`, and do not
touch anything under `.tailr/`:
npx -y @gcrft123/tailr start --target <dev server url>
Or call the `tailr_start` MCP tool with the same target. Either returns once the
session is up and prints the review URL. It proxies the app on its own port
(usually 4100) and injects its overlay. Nothing in the project's source is
modified, and hot reload keeps working.
If it reports a session is already up, use the URL it names rather than
starting a second one.
## 3. Hand over the URL and start watching
In the same message, do both:
- Tell the reviewer the review URL Tailr printed, and that they should use it

How to install
mdr add gcrft123/tailr/start@sha256:b0ea4df5322f7ab6The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260907.6b54c97, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
