scientific-figures SKILL.md skillA
scientific-figures from cbhua/matplotlib-prefab is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.
mdr add cbhua/matplotlib-prefab/scientific-figures@git:20261016.d68d6f7Pins git:20261016.d68d6f7 in mdr.lock. Pin the fingerprint instead.

Generate and review scientific paper figures with general rules for physical sizing, readable typography, data integrity, legends and spatial layout. Includes separate conference reference presets and a reproducible Matplotlib renderer for line, bar, scatter and rectangular panel grids. Use for paper figures or browser figure-configuration handoffs.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Scientific figures Produce a faithful figure that remains readable at its final size in the paper. Keep **general constraints** separate from **conference reference values**. Recommendations guide the agent's decisions; a clean automated report does not certify scientific correctness or publication readiness. ## Choose the reference context Use the user's template, insertion width and explicit style choices first. If only a conference is named, load its matching reference; do not assume another year or venue is equivalent. Ask for missing context only when it changes the result. For an unspecified standalone figure, use the generic profile and report that no paper context was verified. The first packaged conference reference is [ICLR 2026, first/default template](references/conference-presets/iclr2026-first.json): one panel, narrow figure, text wrapping beside it. Its file contains paper/body geometry, calibrated type ranges, stroke defaults, placement constraints and diagnostic parameters. Template measurements and owner preferences have separate provenance. Figure recommendations are **not official ICLR requirements**. …

How to install
mdr add cbhua/matplotlib-prefab/scientific-figures@sha256:90a399b5646c6d7eThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261016.d68d6f7, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
