Use when the user mentions festivals, the fest CLI, phases, sequences, or tasks, or when working inside a `festivals/` directory. Provides the core Festival methodology model so Claude understands the planning system.

Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

What the file says

# Festival Methodology

Festival Methodology is a goal-oriented project management system for human-AI development workflows. It replaces sprints, story points, and time estimates with **steps to goals**.

## Core Concepts

- **Festivals**: Top-level project containers with a specific goal
- **Phases**: Major stages (planning, implementation, review), prefixed `NNN_` (e.g., `001_PLAN/`)
- **Sequences**: Ordered groups of related tasks within a phase, prefixed `NN_` (e.g., `01_setup/`)
- **Tasks**: Atomic work units as markdown files, prefixed `NN_` (e.g., `01_create_schema.md`)

## Hierarchy

```
Festival
└── Phase       (NNN_UPPER_CASE/)
    └── Sequence    (NN_lower_snake_case/)
        └── Task        (NN_lower_snake_case.md)
```

## Lifecycle

```
planning/ → ready/ → active/ → dungeon/completed/
```

## Key CLI Commands

```bash
fest understand methodology    # Learn the methodology
fest create festival           # Create a new festival
fest next                      # Get next actionable task
fest task completed            # Mark task done
fest commit -m "msg"           # Commit with festival traceability
fest validate                  # Check structure
How to install
The exact contents, by fingerprint
mdr add obedience-corp/festival/fest-methodology@sha256:5c2cc9f1b46c5865
The line at the top of this page pins the label v1.4.1, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
