sdk-methods SKILL.md skillA
sdk-methods from live-codes/livecodes is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.
mdr add live-codes/livecodes/sdk-methods@git:20260914.daf8be4Pins git:20260914.daf8be4 in mdr.lock. Pin the fingerprint instead.

Use SDK methods to interact with playgrounds: run, getCode, setConfig, getConfig, watch, runTests, format, getShareUrl, show, destroy. Load this skill when programmatically controlling embedded playgrounds, reacting to code changes, or retrieving compiled output.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
This skill builds on sdk-embedding. Read it first for foundational concepts.
# LiveCodes — Use SDK Methods
The Playground object returned by `createPlayground` exposes methods to programmatically control the playground.
## Setup
```javascript
import { createPlayground } from 'livecodes';
const playground = await createPlayground('#container', {
template: 'react',
});
// All SDK methods return Promises
await playground.run();
const code = await playground.getCode();
await playground.setConfig({
/* new config */
});
```
## Core Patterns
### Run the playground
```javascript
// Run the result page (after any needed compilation)
await playground.run();
```
### Get current code and config
```javascript
// Get code from all editors
const code = await playground.getCode();
console.log(code.markup.content); // Source markup
console.log(code.markup.language); // Language name
console.log(code.markup.compiled); // Compiled output (if applicable)
console.log(code.result); // Result page HTML
// Get configuration object
const config = await playground.getConfig();
console.log(config.title);
console.log(config.markup.language);
How to install
mdr add live-codes/livecodes/sdk-methods@sha256:f4c607ec710e9b11The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260914.daf8be4, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
