Guide the PM-to-Director transition across preparing, interviewing, landing, and recalibrating. Use when leadership scope is changing and you need practical coaching.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
## Purpose Guide PMs and Directors through the specific challenges of the PM-to-Director transition using adaptive questions and targeted coaching. Diagnoses where you are in the journey and delivers practical, war-story-backed guidance calibrated to your situation — not generic leadership advice. This is not a readiness checklist. It's a coaching conversation that names what's actually hard, why it's hard, and what to do about it. ## Input **Works best with:** Where you are in the PM-to-Director journey: preparing for the jump, interviewing, newly landed, or recalibrating after a rough start. **Also useful:** Your org context (team size, who you'd report to) and the specific friction you're feeling. Anything supplied with the invocation itself — text after the skill name, a pasted context dump, or an appended `ARGUMENTS:` line — counts as answers already given. Use it and skip whatever it covers; don't re-ask. **Arriving empty-handed? That works too.** The advisor opens by asking which of the four situations describes you, then branches. …

How to install
mdr add deanpeters/product-manager-skills/director-readiness-advisor@sha256:5579d3a41e434955The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260704.6a4fbf2, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
