Use when creating new skills, editing existing skills, or verifying skills work before deployment - applies TDD to process documentation by testing with subagents before writing, iterating until bulletproof against rationalization.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Writing Skills **REQUIRED BACKGROUND:** Read ed3d-extending-claude:writing-claude-directives for foundational guidance on token efficiency, discovery optimization, and compliance techniques. This skill focuses on TDD methodology specific to skill creation. ## Core Principle **Writing skills IS Test-Driven Development applied to process documentation.** Write test cases (pressure scenarios), watch them fail (baseline behavior), write the skill, watch tests pass, refactor (close loopholes). **Iron Law:** No skill without a failing test first. Same as TDD for code. ## TDD Mapping | TDD Concept | Skill Creation | |-------------|----------------| | Test case | Pressure scenario with subagent | | Production code | SKILL.md document | | RED | Agent violates rule without skill | | GREEN | Agent complies with skill present | | Refactor | Close loopholes, re-test | ## When to Create a Skill **Create when:** - Technique wasn't intuitively obvious - You'd reference this across projects - Pattern applies broadly - Others would benefit **Don't create for:** - One-off solutions - Standard practices documented elsewhere - Project-specific conventions (use CLAUDE.md) ## Skill Types …

How to install
mdr add ed3dai/ed3d-plugins/writing-skills@sha256:d7528be044ca2cfdThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260204.611bfd1, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
