Generate conventional commit messages for Java projects. Use when user says "commit", "create commit", "commit changes", or after completing code changes that need to be committed.

Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Git Commit Message Skill

Generate conventional, informative commit messages for Java projects.

## When to Use
- After making code changes
- User says "commit this" / "commit changes" / "create commit"
- Before creating PRs

## Format Standard

Use Conventional Commits format:

### Types (Java context)
- **feat**: New feature (new API, new functionality)
- **fix**: Bug fix
- **refactor**: Code refactoring (no functional change)
- **test**: Add/update tests
- **docs**: Documentation only
- **perf**: Performance improvement
- **build**: Maven/Gradle changes
- **chore**: Maintenance (dependency updates, etc)

### Scope Examples (Java specific)
- Module name: `core`, `api`, `plugin-loader`
- Component: `PluginManager`, `ExtensionFactory`
- Area: `lifecycle`, `dependencies`, `security`

### Subject Rules
- Imperative mood: "Add support" not "Added support"
- No period at end
- Max 50 chars
- Lowercase after type

### Body (optional but recommended)
- Explain WHAT and WHY, not HOW
- Wrap at 72 chars
- Reference issues: "Fixes #123" / "Relates to #456"

The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260828.702770a, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
