Ask Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini a question and capture the full trace behind the answer (the search queries each engine ran, the pages it retrieved, and the sources it cited, span by span). Use when asked to "trace an AI answer", "see what AI engines cite", "check AI citations", "which sources does ChatGPT/Claude/Gemini use", "why does the AI recommend X", or for any GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) measurement.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. # AI Answer Trace ## Overview Ask the major AI engines a question exactly the way a real user would, with their live web search on, and capture the complete evidence trail behind each answer, not just the answer text. Every trace records three layers: the answer, the search queries the engine silently ran with the pages each search retrieved, and the URLs the answer actually cited (with the character spans they support, where the API provides them). How to install

This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
