langfuse-tracing SKILL.md skillA
langfuse-tracing from testland/qa is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.
mdr add testland/qa/langfuse-tracing@git:20260728.1bce424Pins git:20260728.1bce424 in mdr.lock. Pin the fingerprint instead.

Wires Langfuse tracing into LLM apps for production observability, monitoring, telemetry, and offline eval - instruments via `@observe` (Python) / `startActiveObservation` (TS) decorators that auto-capture inputs / outputs / timings / errors per generation; exposes `langfuse.update_current_span()` for metadata + cost / latency annotation; supports trace-bound scoring for eval datasets and prompt-as-code management. Use when the user needs to monitor, log, trace, or debug LLM API calls in…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# langfuse-tracing
## Overview
[lf-gh]: https://github.com/langfuse/langfuse-python
Langfuse is a production LLM observability platform (per [lf-gh][lf-gh]).
## Step 1 - Install
Per [lf-gh][lf-gh]:
```bash
pip install langfuse
```
For TypeScript:
```bash
npm install @langfuse/tracing
```
Set up project credentials per Langfuse self-hosted or cloud
project (`LANGFUSE_PUBLIC_KEY` + `LANGFUSE_SECRET_KEY` +
`LANGFUSE_HOST`).
## Step 2 - Instrument with `@observe`
Per [langfuse.com/docs/sdk/python/decorators][lf-py-deco]:
[lf-py-deco]: https://langfuse.com/docs/sdk/python/decorators
Python:
```python
from langfuse import observe
@observe(name="llm-call", as_type="generation") # auto-captures inputs, outputs, timings, errors
async def my_async_llm_call(prompt_text):
return "LLM response"
```
TypeScript - create an observation, do work inside it, then end it:
```typescript
import { startActiveObservation } from "@langfuse/tracing";
const { observation, end } = startActiveObservation({
name: "llm-call",
type: "generation",
input: { prompt: promptText },
});
try {
const result = await callMyLLM(promptText);
observation.update({ output: result });
How to install
mdr add testland/qa/langfuse-tracing@sha256:0981cd838fb9c4e9The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260728.1bce424, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
