Turn a local project into a clean, shareable Git repo that follows the user's conventions. Covers: an audit and cleanup (large files, secrets, private or copyrighted material, local paths); the baseline files (license, .editorconfig, .gitignore base); a deliberate large-file policy (ignore, host on R2, or Git LFS); lockfiles plus the user's TypeScript setup (pnpm, @fisch0920/config, oxlint, oxfmt); a minimal offline GitHub Actions test.yml pinned with actions-up; and readme.md (marketing)…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Initialize a shareable Git repo The goal is a repo that a stranger or a fresh agent can clone, understand in a minute, and reproduce. It should contain no private data, no derived bulk, and nothing the user doesn't have the right to share. Work in the phases below. Nothing leaves the machine until the user asks for a commit or a push. ## 1. Inventory - Run `scripts/audit.sh <project-dir>`. It shows sizes by directory, the largest files, what `git add` would stage, any secret patterns, and absolute local paths. It prints file names only, never values. - Classify everything by category: - **source:** code, prompts, configs, docs, curated app/docs assets and data - **derived:** builds, bulk renders, caches, temporary media, logs - **third-party:** vendored checkouts, model weights, virtualenvs, `node_modules` - **private:** secrets, personal data, local paths - **not ours:** copyrighted material the user doesn't own - Check the git state: - Loose objects left by an earlier `git add` in a repo with no commits: run `git gc --prune=now`. - An existing remote and branch: check them before assuming a fresh start. …

How to install
mdr add transitive-bullshit/skills/init-git-repo@sha256:3ddd7821a813a41dThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261005.47ce99f, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
