Build or refresh the project's knowledge base in fondue/kb/: an index of every module and project skill, and one card per module saying what it offers, where a new thing plugs in, and what not to rebuild. spec and hunt roles read it before they design, and keep it current. Use when the User asks to initialize, build, rebuild or refresh the knowledge base, or to map the codebase for fondue.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# kb-init - map the codebase once, cheaply The knowledge base is defined in `protocol/kb.md` at the plugin root, `../../protocol/kb.md` from this skill's directory. Read it first. This skill is the run that creates it, or rebuilds it after the code drifted away from it. `kb.py` below means `python3 <plugin root>/protocol/kb/kb.py`, run from the project root. The User runs this in their own session. It is not a spec: no roles, no review. The User is the reviewer. ## The run 1. **Modules.** Run `kb.py modules`. It lists a module for every source in the project: build-file modules where Maven or Gradle lay them out, directory modules for the rest. If it finds no source, stop and tell the User that `kb.py` recognises code by its extension, and that a `+ <pattern>` line in `fondue/kb/parts.txt` (protocol/kb.md) names the project's source when its language is not on the list. Otherwise show the User the module list, with each module's size, when it looks wrong: too few, a module that is really two, or a directory module that is not code at all. `parts.txt` fixes each: a `<card id> <directory>` line gives a directory inside a module a card of its own, so a module that is really two… …

How to install
mdr add jsobolewski1/fondue/kb-init@sha256:3dc70f331858d67dThe line at the top of this page pins the label v1, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
