# AGENTS.md — consolidate-memory

Agent operating manual for this repo, authored from a 5-agent codebase map and
verified against the live tree at **v0.4.79** (2026-09-27). This file carries the
dense reference — the authoritative tree, the full command inventory, the release
mechanics. `CLAUDE.md` carries the BINDING DIRECTIVES only, at a fraction of the
size, because it is the always-loaded tier and this one is read on demand; it
points here for the detail. Where they disagree, the live files win.
Under the plugin's own tier model this file is an on-demand store — read it when
you work here; the always-loaded store is `CLAUDE.md` + the auto-memory
`MEMORY.md` index. ⚠ That split is a property of the CONFIGURATION, not of these
files: it holds because Claude Code's default `instructionFiles` mode is
`claude-md-or-agents-md`, under which a project carrying its own `CLAUDE.md` does
NOT also load `AGENTS.md`. Set `claude-md-and-agents-md` — or open this repo under
Codex, whose native convention `AGENTS.md` is — and BOTH files are always-loaded.
