Use when adding commands to an application's nocobase CLI, or when working out how a plugin contributes CLI commands. Covers the ./cli entry, defineCliPlugin, and how topics are assembled.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# CLI Example Plugin
This plugin contributes commands to the application's `nocobase` CLI. Read it as the reference implementation when
writing commands for another plugin.
## What a CLI plugin is
A plugin contributes commands by exporting a `./cli` entry. The application lists that entry in `cli/plugins.ts`, and `pnpm nocobase` assembles it into one command tree alongside the built-in commands of `@nocobase/app-cli`, such as `config *`, `db *`, `plugin *` and `build`, and the application's own `app *` commands.
Every command extends `AppCommand` from `@nocobase/app-cli`: it returns its result, throws `CommandError` on failure, and gets `--json` from the base class. By default a command is static tooling that operates on files and packages; one that needs the application creates it with `this.withApp(async ({ app }) => …)`. The `nocobase-app-plugin-development` Skill's CLI reference has the whole contract.
## The three pieces
**A command** is an `AppCommand` subclass — the same base the built-in commands use:
```ts
// cli/greet.ts
import { AppCommand } from '@nocobase/app-cli';
import { Args, Flags } from '@oclif/core';
export default class Greet extends AppCommand {
…Read the whole file at its exact version.
How to install
mdr add nocobase/nocobase/nocobase-app-plugin-cli-example@sha256:a46a7da3d52d8fb4The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261012.693e43d, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
