Explain code that already exists - a PR, branch, commit range or dirty tree - well enough that a developer or a PM can review the solution without reading the code, and record it as an ADR written after the fact. Splits the change into its separate pieces of work, reconstructs per piece the idea, the approach, the decisions taken (stated, inferred, unrecorded or by omission) and the alternatives, then has niche experts judge each decision and say what they would pick if doing it again.…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. # Reverse Grill Product: an ADR file holding the full reconstruction of a change that already exists, and a chat digest of it, both organised by the separate pieces of work the change contains, with each reviewed decision judged by a niche expert. Three tests before anything is delivered: - Reader test: a reader who has not opened the diff - a PM included - must be able to agree or disagree with every decision from the document alone. If judging a decision would need the code, the explanation is not done. - Language test: the same solution written in another language or framework must yield the same document, except the `Where:` pointers and the names and versions of the tools, libraries and hosts that were chosen. A decision, alternative, consequence or expert opinion that only makes sense in this language is a code detail: lift it to the design choice it expresses, or drop it. …

How to install

This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
