# Glass > Glass is a free, open-source, low-latency remote desktop for macOS and Linux (Wayland). Install it on the computer you want to control, then see and control it from a browser on an iPad, iPhone, or another computer. Typical latency is 15–30 ms from screen capture to display, over Tailscale or from anywhere through a one-time link (direct WebRTC, end-to-end encrypted). Nothing to install on the viewing device. Install on the computer to be controlled: `curl -fsSL glassdesk.dev | sh` (macOS 13+ on Apple Silicon or Intel; Linux x86_64 or ARM64 on Wayland, beta). On a Mac the installer adds Glass.app and opens it for a guided setup (Tailscale, the background service, permissions); in a terminal or over SSH it runs `glass setup` instead. From outside the tailnet, `glass link --anywhere` makes a one-time link that connects any browser directly over WebRTC (end-to-end encrypted, no open ports). At https://glassdesk.dev/computers, a passkey account (no email, no password) lists your computers, shows which are online and opens any of them; `glass account add` puts a computer there, and the account never lets anyone in by itself. How to install

This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
