Install, set up, check or troubleshoot Glass (glassdesk.dev), a low-latency browser remote desktop, on any Mac or Linux machine in the user's Tailscale tailnet, over SSH; and hand out one-time Glass access links. Use when the user wants to control another computer from an iPad or browser, add a machine to Glass, set Glass up remotely, find out why Glass isn't working, or asks for a Glass link / access link / magic link (for themselves or someone else), or to revoke one.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Glass: set up any machine on the tailnet Glass streams a computer's screen to a browser and takes mouse, keyboard and touch input back. The host runs on macOS 13+ and on Linux x86_64 or ARM64 (Wayland). Every machine with Glass on the user's tailnet shows up in the client's **Machines** menu, so setting up one more machine is all it takes to control it from anywhere. You can do almost everything remotely. Two steps need a person at the target's screen (macOS permission switches, or the Linux share picker); your job is to do the rest and tell the user exactly what to click. ## Ground rules - Only set up machines the user owns: peers in `tailscale status` with the same `UserID` as `Self`. Never touch other people's devices on a shared tailnet. - Confirm the machine with the user before installing (name and OS), then proceed without asking at each step. - Use `sudo` only non-interactively (`sudo -n`). How to install
mdr add ntarasiuk/glass/glass@sha256:66c5314474758921The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261102.2132258, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
