# Capital gains workpaper ## Inputs Asset ownership and residency history, acquisition and disposal contracts, broker/settlement statements and ledger records, event dates, proceeds, cost records, valuations, prior capital-loss schedules and any proposed exemption or election. ## Workflow 1. Create one row per asset and candidate event. Reconcile disposals against broker, settlement and ledger records; distinguish contract, settlement and payment dates before applying the event-timing rule. Give the event a reference reused in rental, crypto, investment and business schedules so the same disposal is not counted again on import. Keep the owner's supported share, acquisition/disposal dates, proceeds, cost components, current-year losses and carried-forward losses separately evidenced. 2. Reconstruct cost base and reduced cost base with separate evidence for each component. Identify expenditure already deducted and missing acquisition history; a missing cost is unknown, not zero. …
