Control Metis Desktop Inspector built-in browser for local preview (HTML/SVG/file paths), page interaction, accessibility snapshots, and screenshots. Use when the user asks to open, show, preview, inspect, click, type, or verify UI in the in-app/built-in browser. Prefer browser_navigate over bash open/Safari/Chrome/qlmanage whenever browser_* tools are listed.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. # Metis Browser Use this skill before any built-in browser automation. Load it with `read` on this file or `/skill:metis-browser`. ## When to use - User asks to open, show, preview, navigate, click, type, fill, scroll, or screenshot a page in Metis Desktop Inspector / 内置浏览器. - Local file preview: SVG, HTML, or other browser-viewable workspace files. - Local web/dev preview (`localhost`, `127.0.0.1`) that needs real browser interaction. - Inspect interactive UI state (buttons, forms, links) after code changes. Do **not** use this skill for: - Fetching documentation or API text → prefer `websearch` / `webfetch`. - Opening an external OS browser → never substitute with `bash` `open`, `open -a Safari`, `open -a "Google Chrome"`, `xdg-open`, or `qlmanage` when `browser_*` tools exist. - Desktop Computer Use against the Inspector webview → use `browser_*` tools instead. - Binding local preview or test servers to **port 5173** → that port is reserved for Metis Desktop Vite. Use another port (e.g. `--port 4173`) and never `browser_navigate` to `:5173`. ## Required workflow …

How to install
mdr add wholiver/metis/metis-browser@sha256:2f609c71dfe86f95The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260928.8dc0d6d, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
