Changelog and commit — lightweight motion for day-to-day plugin dev work in the monorepo. One commit per plugin scope; CHANGELOG and staging routed by detected slug. Trigger when the user says "commit", "commit this", "save this", "wrap this up", "let's commit", or finishes a change and wants to capture it. NOT for releases, version bumps, or pushing — defer to /release for those.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Commit Detect which plugin's scope this change belongs to, append a changelog line in that plugin's CHANGELOG, then commit. No push, no tag, no version bump — that's `/release`'s job. ## Guardrails (check before starting) - Clean tree (`git status` shows nothing) → stop and say so, nothing to commit. - Detached HEAD, mid-rebase, or mid-merge → stop and ask the user to resolve that first. - Never `--amend`, `--no-verify`, force-push, or create tags here. - Never use `git add -A` or `git add .` — staging is path-scoped per step 0. - If a pre-commit hook fails, fix the root cause and create a new commit — don't bypass the hook. - **`main` is the default base for everyday work.** Claude Code's `/plugin update` only fires when `version` in `plugin.json` changes, so commits merged to `main` between releases are invisible to operators on the standard install path — `[Unreleased]` accumulates until `/release` ships them. ## Steps ### 0. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
