checkov-policy SKILL.md skillA
checkov-policy from testland/qa is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.
mdr add testland/qa/checkov-policy@git:20260813.aa0ffc9Pins git:20260813.aa0ffc9 in mdr.lock. Pin the fingerprint instead.

Configures Checkov for IaC security scanning across Terraform, CloudFormation, Kubernetes, Helm, ARM, Serverless, AWS CDK - `pip install checkov`, custom Python checks, SARIF / JUnit output, and `--baseline` gating so CI fails only on new findings in legacy code. Use for the broadest built-in rule set with Python custom checks; for a consolidated new-project scanner (and the tfsec successor) use trivy-config.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# checkov-policy ## Overview [ch]: https://www.checkov.io/ Per [checkov-home][ch], supported frameworks: Terraform and Terraform plan, CloudFormation, Kubernetes, Helm, ARM Templates, Serverless framework, AWS CDK. Checkov is the broadest IaC security scanner - covers more frameworks than tfsec (Terraform-only) or KICS (similar coverage but Checkov has more built-in checks per release). ## When to use - Team uses any of the supported IaC frameworks. - Need security scanning for misconfigurations (open ports, unencrypted storage, overly broad IAM, etc.). - Want one tool covering Terraform + Kubernetes + Dockerfile + CI pipelines. ## How to use 1. Install Checkov and pin the version in `requirements-dev.txt` for CI determinism (Step 1). 2. Run `checkov -d .` locally, narrowing frameworks with `--framework` when the repo mixes IaC types (Step 2). 3. Emit SARIF for GitHub Code Scanning and JUnit for CI test reporting (Step 3). 4. Triage findings - fix real issues, annotate intentional exceptions with justified `checkov:skip=` comments (Step 4). 5. Add custom Python or YAML checks for team-specific policy the built-in rules miss (Step 5). …

How to install
mdr add testland/qa/checkov-policy@sha256:75c89993033dc7abThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260813.aa0ffc9, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
