Use when Freeflow says compaction is due or the user asks to compact: prepare what the conversation needs to continue, then compact with compact_context.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. # Compaction Compaction replaces the conversation with what you write, and starts a new cycle: the stretch of conversation until the next compaction. The next cycle starts from your summary, the Working Record and what it points to, the carried context, and the lines Freeflow adds itself; everything else leaves your context, this skill included. Most drift after compaction comes from a summary that lost something the next step needed. The summary works like a Working Record ([Track Work](../../skills/track-work/SKILL.md)) for one cycle. Ask Track Work's question: if context were lost now, what would the next context need that it could not recover from the Working Record, its defining artifacts, the workspace, or the carried context? Write that, and nothing more. Concise is not lossy: keep a detail when removing it could change the next action. ## Rules The Rules are binding; if one cannot be met, stop and say why. How to install
mdr add hassan-mohiddin/freeflow/compaction@sha256:bbd15fec593f9632The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261011.40b61e2, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
