Extracts Mermaid diagrams from markdown files and generates high-quality PNG images using bundled scripts. Activates when working with Mermaid diagrams, converting diagrams to PNG, extracting diagrams from markdown, or processing markdown files with embedded Mermaid code.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Mermaid Tools
## Overview
This skill enables extraction of Mermaid diagrams from markdown files and generation of high-quality PNG images. The skill bundles all necessary scripts (`extract-and-generate.sh`, `extract_diagrams.py`, and `puppeteer-config.json`) in the `scripts/` directory for portability and reliability.
## Core Workflow
### Standard Diagram Extraction and Generation
Extract Mermaid diagrams from a markdown file and generate PNG images using the bundled `extract-and-generate.sh` script:

./extract-and-generate.sh "<markdown_file>" "<output_directory>"
```
**Parameters:**
- `<markdown_file>`: Path to the markdown file containing Mermaid diagrams
- `<output_directory>`: (Optional) Directory for output files. Defaults to `<markdown_file_directory>/diagrams`
**Example:**
```bash
cd "${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}/scripts"
./extract-and-generate.sh "<markdown_file>" "<output_directory>"
```
### What the Script Does
1. **Extracts** all Mermaid code blocks from the markdown file
2. **Numbers** them sequentially (01, 02, 03, etc.) in order of appearance
3. **Generates** `.mmd` files for each diagram

How to install
mdr add gurudevvv/my-claude-skills/mermaid-tools@sha256:168bc6448e9a3496The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260727.59851fd, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
