Process email bounces and protect sender reputation. Use when handling hard/soft bounces, building suppression lists, configuring retry strategies, or investigating high bounce rates.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Bounce Handling Process hard and soft bounces correctly so you protect sender reputation and stop wasting sends on dead addresses. ## When to use this skill - Your bounce rate is climbing above 2% - You received a hard bounce (5xx SMTP code) and need to decide what to do - Soft bounces are piling up and you need a retry strategy - A provider paused or throttled your sending due to bounces - You're building a webhook handler for delivery events - You need to clean a stale email list before sending - You want to set up automated suppression rules ## Related skills - `domain-authentication` - proper SPF/DKIM/DMARC prevents authentication-related bounces - `sender-reputation` - bounces directly damage reputation; monitoring catches problems early - `suppression-lists` - where bounced addresses end up; managing the lifecycle - `webhook-processing` - how to receive and process bounce notifications from providers - `email-warmup` - high bounce rates during warmup can permanently damage a new domain - `rate-limiting` - throttling sends to avoid triggering provider bounce limits --- ## Hard bounce vs soft bounce …

How to install
mdr add chunkydotdev/email-skills/bounce-handling@sha256:45415263bb944e25The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260330.4128460, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
