model-check SKILL.md skillA
This file is byte-identical to the first copy the registry indexed. Same content hash, so the same checks give both the same grade.
model-check from indranilbanerjee/neels-plugins is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.
mdr add indranilbanerjee/neels-plugins/model-check@git:20261011.1a0c374Pins git:20261011.1a0c374 in mdr.lock. Pin the fingerprint instead.

Find the best current model for a capability from the live catalogue and record its source. "which model should we use".
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# /socialforge:model-check — which model to call, decided today
> **Script location.** If your host does not set `${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}`, the scripts are in this plugin's `scripts/` folder, next to `skills/`. Run them with Python 3.10 or newer: `python`, or `python3` where `python` is not found (macOS, many Linux systems).
SocialForge does not know which model to use. That is deliberate.
A model id written into a plugin is a claim about the day it was written, and
this plugin gets run long after that day. Six ids used to sit on the execution
path. One video fallback stayed pinned to a superseded generation for about six
months, and nothing in the system could say so — which matters because a retired
id does not degrade gracefully. It fails at the exact moment the two providers
ahead of it have already failed and the fallback is all that is left.
So the code asks for a **kind** of model. You find out what currently satisfies it.
## The rule
**Never supply a model id from memory.** Not from this file, not from a recipe,
not from what a model was called last time you looked. If `model_book.py` says
`unknown` or `stale`, go and read the provider's catalogue.
…Read the whole file at its exact version.
How to install
mdr add indranilbanerjee/neels-plugins/model-check@sha256:efe5a36846445bfdThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261011.1a0c374, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
