Build or maintain user documentation sites for software products, including tutorials, task guides, API reference and publication checks. Use for a product documentation website or its information architecture. Do not use for ordinary README edits, engineering proposals or engineering specifications.

# Product documentation Help a user achieve a real result with the product. A successful build proves the site can be generated; it does not prove the instructions work or the public site is available. ## Establish the reader and the contract Identify the next useful user journey from the request, existing documentation and product interfaces. Separate a newcomer trying the product from an operator installing it and a developer integrating it. Ask only when a missing decision would change the work materially; use the repository's conventions for routine choices. Read the relevant commands, schemas, configuration defaults, release artifacts and existing guides before describing their behavior. Distinguish released behavior from default-branch development, opt-in features and controlled experimental evidence. Preserve old installation identifiers until their migration actually ships. Never fill a gap with a plausible-looking command or a maturity claim. Keep one canonical reference for each contract. Link to existing detailed guides or generate reference from the actual interface when the repository supports it; do not maintain a second copied API manual. …

How to install

This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
