astria SKILL.md skillA

astria from nodesify/astria is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.

Turn any directory into a queryable knowledge graph of a codebase - hub files, communities, blast radius, and natural-language questions like "how does authentication work". Use before exploring an unfamiliar repo, tracing how modules connect, or assessing what breaks if a symbol changes. Self-contained - detects whether the astria CLI is installed and guides a one-command install when it isn't; reading an existing graph needs no install at all.

Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

What the file says

# astria: query the codebase as a knowledge graph

astria turns a folder of source code into a queryable graph stored in `.astria/` - deterministic AST extraction via tree-sitter, PageRank hub ranking, community detection, and a plain-language report. Document bodies (markdown, transcripts) are chunked and searchable alongside code. Questions that cost grep-and-read sessions ("where does auth live?", "what breaks if I change this?") become one graph query that answers within the token budget you set (default 2,000, `--budget`).

Scope: this skill teaches the core graph-first surface (`run`, `update`, `query`, `map`, `explain`, `path`, `affected`, `stats`, `status`, `wiki`) and intentionally not every current flag and export. For the full surface, install the packaged skill (`astria install`) or see the [CLI reference](https://nodesify.github.io/astria/docs/reference/cli).

## Step 0 - Check the environment (do this first)

Run the CLI check via your shell:

```bash
astria --version
```

Then branch on the result:

**A. Command found** - astria is installed. Continue to the workflow below.

How to install

The exact contents, by fingerprint
mdr add nodesify/astria/astria@sha256:9d11b46f35499400

The line at the top of this page pins the label v1.0.0, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
