# eighty-six In a kitchen, to 86 an item is to take it off the menu so nobody can order it again. This skill does that for agent mistakes: instead of writing "do not do X" and hoping, change the repo so X cannot happen, or fails loudly with the fix in the error message. **Core principle:** a rule nothing enforces is a wish. Fix each mistake class at the highest level that works. Design for the contributor you actually have: an agent that has read only the files it opened, imitates the closest example, and stops at the first version that builds. The repo should make the locally plausible change also the globally correct one. ## Procedure 1. **Mine the classes.** Read recent commits, reverts, fixup chains, review threads, agent instruction files, and comments that explain workarounds. Useful starts: `git log --oneline -i -E --grep='revert|fixup|again|oops|forgot'`, and the correction history in the instruction file. Group mistakes into classes. **A class counts once it has happened twice.** One-offs are noise.
